Chorus History

Murrumbidgee Magic (originally known as Wagga Wagga Harmony Chorus) was formed in February 1992 after a visit by the Melbourne Chorus inspired the founding director, Jill Harris, to start a chorus of women who could learn about barbershop harmony, have a lot of fun together, and be part of this international organisation of women singers which numbers approximately 28,000 worldwide.

The chorus has performed for many local groups, and had numerous concerts in Wagga Wagga and district, including the popular annual International Womens’ Day concert in support of Northcott. They are also an established part of the Wagga Wagga Australia Day celebrations, and the Wagga Wagga Jazz Festival,  and they have been regular prize winners at the Wagga Wagga Eisteddfod over a number of years.  They have also been successful in national competition, most recently placing 1st in the Small Chorus division at the Hobart Convention in 2009 after also taking out the gold in 2008!
