Quartets

Murrumbidgee Magic has had many competing quartets over the years.

Currently we have 1 competing quartet:

Andiamo

Andiamo quartet formed in August 2008. Andiamo means "lets go" in Italian, and for these women, that involves lots of driving as they live between 3 and 5 hours from each other.

Jill Harris (tenor) is the musical director of the Murrumbidgee Magic Chorus in Wagga Wagga. Tracey Cam (lead) is the musical director of the Bathurst Panorama Chorus is Bathurst. Lea Baker (baritone) is the musical director of the Endeavour Harmony Chorus in Sydney.

Having 3 directors in a quartet comes with its own challenges. Luckily Pia Wikstrom (bass), the only non-director, just goes with the flow and occasionally throws in a response such as "EN VALITA" which means "WHATEVER!" in Finnish.

Andiamo was thrilled to place 3rd in their first national competition appearance, held in May 2009 in Hobart, Tasmania.

To contact Andiamo, email Lea on leabaker@optusnet.com.au

In late 2009 Bec Mutton moved to Perth to further her Sweet Adelines quartet career with iCapella:

iCappella

iCappella have been singing together since June 2008 and were excited to come 6th in our first regional competition in 2009!

Bec Mutton (our Lead) sang with Murrumbidgee Magic Chorus and directed The Bidgeemen Chorus.  Though a Primary Teacher by training, she works as an Educational Research Assistant.

Lindsey Dyer (our Bass) you will know as our current Directors’ Coordinator.  She is the co-director of A Cappella West Chorus in Perth, works as a theatre nurse, and is Mum to Claire, Tom and Angus.

Kirsten Richardson (our Baritone) sings with A Cappella West Chorus in Perth. In her spare time she works as a graphic designer, is studying for her Graphic Design Diploma, and is Mum to little Flynn.

Jen Squires (our Tenor) sings with Perth Harmony, having just moved to Perth to study a Bachelor of Music Education and is also a member of the Regional Education Faculty.

How, you ask, do they rehearse then?  They are an internet quartet! (that is they rehearse on Skype due to their long distances apart – 4250km to be exact).  They are already gaining quite a reputation as a quartet who will sing for anyone who is not actually running in the other direction. Between songs you might find them out on the grass doing gymnastics together or sharing wine and chocolate over a movie marathon.

iCappella’s repertoire ranges from classic barbershop through the 50s and 60s to Billy Joel and even Pachabel.  We love to sing and have fun on stage, so for your next chapter show or business event consider iCappella and join in the fun!
